Where socks go when they
get lost in the laundry!

Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation (EGPAF)

In 1981, Elizabeth Glaser was infected with the AIDS virus through a blood transfusion, and unknowingly passed it on to both of her children. The Glaser family's tragedy inspired the creation of the Pediatric AIDS Foundation in 1988. Since then, they have been at the forefront of the fight against pediatric HIV/AIDS, making remarkable strides in their struggle against an illness that has ravaged the globe.

What three mothers began around a kitchen table in 1988 is now the leading global nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing pediatric HIV infection and eradicating pediatric AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs.

Communications Workers of America (CWA)

Twenty years ago Elizabeth Glaser set out to change the world.  She wanted to save her son's life after her daughter died and to make sure every child with HIV/AIDS had a chance for a healthy life.  Her journey led her to found the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation (EGPAF).

Based on her compelling and very personal story, two years later at the 1990 CWA Convention,  delegates adopted the EGPAF as our "Charity of Choice". Since we have begun this important relationship CWA members have been extremely generous and have raised over 6 million dollars on behalf of the Foundation.

While Elizabeth herself passed away several years ago, the foundation continues to perform important work by advancing research, training and advocacy programs around the world.  Communications Workers of America is proud to support the opportunity to create...

A GENERATION FREE OF HIV.
